You will love Mermaid's Folly, which is a short walk from the beach and provides a quiet & peaceful retreat within the sun-drenched, bird-filled woods. Located on a low traffic street in a tree-filled residential neighborhood, this house provides its guests close proximity to the beach and Folly Beach's restaurant row on Center Street without all the congestion and noise that you'll find on the busier streets of the island. Guests of Mermaid's Folly can take a leisurely walk to the best public access point (fully equipped with its own bath house & rest room!) on Folly Beach and have their toes in the sand within 7 minutes of leaving the front door. At the end of the day, you can return home to enjoy sundowner cocktails on one of the home's three elevated porches that overlook the marsh or drive to downtown Charleston to enjoy the fabulous foodie & cultural delights of what readers of Southern Living magazine voted as the "Best City in the South" of 2017.

Once you enter the front door, you will find a large living room with comfortable couches, board games & books; a dining area that comfortably seats 8 people; and a galley-style kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker and walk-in pantry where the home's washer & dryer are located. Relax with a book or enjoy the sunset in the serene, light-filled solarium that provides panoramic views over the palmettos and oak trees in the backyard. The 4 bedrooms of the home (including the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom) and the second bathroom are all located near one another down the hallway off the living room. Free off-street parking on the driveway for a maximum of 3 cars. Please note there is no additional parking available if your party has more than 3 cars.

We loved our stay at Mermaid’s Folly. Close to all the local spots we wanted to visit and an easy drive to Charleston. The house itself was so comfortable. Lots of cozy, comfortable seating areas, a well-supplied kitchen, comfortable bedrooms. We loved it all.

We came to folly beach to remember my mother in law who pasted away this past year. She grew up on St James and wanted her ashes here. The accommodations were awesome. Clean quiet and more than enough room for all seven of us. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Some only proved the basics but not mermaid’s folly. Plenty of beach supplies. The sunroom was great for watching wildlife and the rain. Tons of balcony and patio space for lounging. We definitely recommend this place and will definitely stay again.
